This disease is caused by the fungus Mycosphaerellaligulicola. The ray flowers (marginal flowers of an inflorescence) are attacked, so that the blooms are deformed and one-sided. Early infection may cause blasting of the buds.


Chlorothalonil, mancozeb, myclobutanil, thiophanate methyl or propiconazole are effective as a foliar spray when applied at label rates.
