DESCRIPTION OF THE PEST
Sap-feeding insects that feed on undersides of leaves. Whiteflies
are tiny; the adults resemble white moths. The immature
stages look like scale insects.
Infested leaves often have small yellow spots where adults or
immature whiteflies have fed. When populations become dense, the leaves become
yellow and lower leaves are covered with black sooty mold.
If necessary, spray the shrub thoroughly in mid-summer when adult
viburnum whitefly begin to appear. Use thiacloprid (e.g. Bayer Provado Ultimate
Bug Killer), acetamiprid (e.g. Bug Clear Ultra) or deltamethrin (e.g. Bayer
Sprayday Greenfly Killer) or pyrethrum (considered organic e.g. Py Spray Garden
