PFBV infection is limited to Pelargonium species and cultivars.
Cultivars vary in susceptibility; PFBV is the most common virus infection of
the florist`s geranium (P. x hortorum). The virus is transmitted from geranium
to geranium by sap inoculation, contaminated tools, surface contaminated
pollen, thrips in the presence of infected pollen, and recirculating nutrient
solutions. It is not transmitted by aphids or seed.
Geraniums have been freed of PBFV by heat (35º C) treatment .
There no cures or chemical treatments for plant viruses. Buy
culture indexed plants and cuttings. Discard infected material
